Chromium is a trace mineral that aides in the body's production of insulin. Chromium picolinate is considered the best source of this mineral, although it is also found in a variety of foods.

Scientifically, chromimum picolinate has been basically proven to do absolutely nothing. Some studies found it made a minor improvement for fat loss, but one showed it even had a negative effect on muscle gain!

In summary, given its spotty record, chromium picolinate probably isn't worth your money. If you're determined to test it out, though, go for something generic and cheap such as Higher Power Chromium Picolinate.
